Prices

Below are typical prices. The prices are based on “modern” movements (e.g. ETA 2824-2, 2892A2, Valjoux 7750 etc…) where parts are readily available. A surcharge may apply on a case-by-case basis for:

  • Some vintage watches (increased complexity due to level of wear, parts availability requiring more time to source replacements when needed).
  • Movements which are not shock protected (e.g. do not have Incabloc, KIF, Novodiac or similar shock protection system on the balance wheel).
  • Monocoque / front loader cases (watches with no caseback where the movement comes out from the front).
  • High value or complex watches.

I provide photos of the work carried out as part of the service. Photos will be sent via a link upon completion of the work for viewing / download.

The service of a mechanical movement includes:

  • Full disassembly of the movement
  • All movement parts cleaned ultrasonically
  • Inspection, re-assembly and lubrication, including epilame surface treatment of some escapement parts
  • Movement demagnetised, and regulated
  • Testing (over several days, bench test and cyclotest as appropriate)

The prices above assume the watch is in good condition and requires nothing more than a straightforward service, full strip-down, clean, lubrication and re-assembly. Prices exclude cost of replacement parts and any additional labour, should any be required. This can only be confirmed upon inspection.

Case service:

In addition to the movement, the case will also be serviced. The extent of the work will depend on the watch and the scope of work. This can vary from a straightforward ultrasonic clean to a full strip down of the case, crystal and pushers. This can amount to a significant share of the work. A price and recommendation for the extent of the work will be confirmed with the estimate.

Inspection:

The prices above are estimates only and subject to detailed inspection of the watch.  I can only confirm an estimate once the watch has been inspected and partially stripped down. This is because most faults and areas of wear are not necessarily visible even with the case-back open.

I do not charge for inspection if you decide to proceed with the work.

However, should you decide you do not wish to go ahead there would be a £40 inspection fee, plus return postage costs.  This is to cover the time spent on inspection.

Battery replacement From £35.00
Crystal Replacement From £30.00
Standalone vacuum & Pressure test £30.00

Warranty:

I provide a 12 months labour warranty on the work carried out, and 12 months warranty on new parts fitted
