Prices

Movement Service:

Below are typical prices. Some watches may incur additional charges depending on the level of complexity. These prices assume the watch is in good condition and requires nothing more than a straightforward service, full strip-down, clean, lubrication and re-assembly. Prices exclude cost of replacement parts and any additional labour, should any be required. This can only be confirmed upon inspection.

 Inspection (See below)  £35
Movement Service (Manual Wind)  From £220
Movement Service  (Automatic) From £250
Quartz watch service – price based on movement replacement From £130
Movement Service (Quartz) From £195
Movement Service Manual Chronograph From £325
Movement Service Automatic Chronograph From £375
Other POA

I also recommend replacing the mainspring as a matter of course as part of a service on a mechanical watch (usually between £15-30).

A movement service includes:

  • Full disassembly of the movement
  • All movement parts cleaned ultrasonically
  • Inspection, re-assembly and lubrication
  • Movement demagnetised, and regulated
  • Testing (over several days)

There is an extra £20 charge  if the movement is not shock protected (e.g. does not have Incabloc, KIF, Novodiac or similar shock protection system on the balance wheel).

There is a £45 extra charge on monocoque / front loader cases (watches with no caseback where the movement comes out from the front).

Inspection:

The prices above are estimates only and subject to detailed inspection of the watch.  I can only confirm an estimate once the watch has been inspected and partially stripped down. This is because most faults and areas of wear are not necessarily visible even with the case-back open.

I do not charge for inspection if you decide to proceed with the work.

However, should you decide you do not wish to go ahead there would be a £35 inspection fee, plus return postage costs.  This is to cover the time spent on inspection.
